Choir rehearsal and hymn practice

Each part heard alone, slowed and repeated, then the four together: a rehearsal tool for singers and directors.

Learning a hymn in four-part harmony takes more than knowing the melody. Sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses each need to learn their own line, understand how it fits within the harmony, and ultimately bring all four parts together as one choir. SoundofHymns turns your hymn library into a practical rehearsal and learning tool for choristers and music directors.

Listen to Your Part. Learn Your Part. Sing Your Part.

With SATB part isolation, choristers can listen specifically to the Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass line instead of trying to pick out their part from the full harmony. Slow the hymn down while learning, repeat it as needed, and then return to the complete four-part arrangement to hear how your voice fits within the harmony. You can also transpose hymns into different keys to explore and practice within different vocal ranges.

For choristers, practice does not have to begin and end at choir rehearsal. SoundofHymns can be used for individual practice, allowing members to become familiar with their notes and arrive at rehearsal better prepared to sing their part.

Choir members also do not always have to wait for the music director or organist before beginning their practice. SoundofHymns can guide singers through selected hymns and individual parts, allowing valuable practice to begin independently before the full rehearsal gets underway.

A Rehearsal Tool for Choir and Music Directors

A choir director's attention should not always be divided between directing and providing accompaniment. SoundofHymns provides consistent accompaniment, allowing directors to step away from the keyboard and focus on listening, correcting entries, balancing voices, and shaping the overall performance.

When a section needs extra attention, isolate its vocal line, adjust the tempo or key, and work through it before bringing the voices back together. For unfamiliar hymns or alternate tunes, choristers can hear the complete hymn and learn their individual parts before rehearsing together.

SoundofHymns helps choristers come prepared, gives directors more freedom to direct, and makes every minute of rehearsal count.
